Hycos has recently delivered an hydraulic system for a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for Damen Shipyards, Gorinchem, Holland.

The Gambe d’Amfard is a 700m3 TSHD built for the French harbour maintenance company DRAGAGES PORTS.

This TSHD has both a suction pipe and a dredging crane for local harbour dredging tasks.

The ship is being built in Damen Shipyards own Romanian shipyard in Gelati, and will be ready for service by the end of 2006.

The hydraulic system consists of a larger power pack for the main dredging functions, and a smaller power pack for the crane, along with a swell compensating system.

The main power pack includes manifolds for all the hydraulic functions -some 50 in total- and is delivered as a ‘plug and play’ unit for easy installation in the machine room. The power pack was built in the Hycos factory where it has also been fully commissioned to reduce the on board commissioning time.
